Peru’s investment promotion agency ProInversión has qualified nine groups for the 220kV Ica-Poroma and Caclic-Jaen Norte power transmission concession.

The potential bidders for the 30-year contract are Acciona Concesiones, Alupar Perú, Atlantica Perú, Celeo Redes, Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios, Conelsur, Consorcio TRE Perú, Eléctricas de Medellín Perú and Interconexión Eléctrica. Offers are due in December.

Ica-Poroma is planned for the south-central coastal region of Ica and is to dispatch production from non-conventional renewable plants. Components include a new substation, the expansion of substations Ica and Poroma, and 145km of lines.

Caclic-Jaen Norte will shore up operations in the northern regions of Amazonas and Cajamarca with the expansion of the Caclic and Jaen Norte substations and 180km of lines.

The construction window for Ica-Poroma is 32 months and for Caclic-Jaen Norte, 36 months. Estimated investment reaches US$59 and US$47mn, respectively. The planned infrastructure is part of power grid coordinator COES’s transmission plan.
